Just touching base, not much new to report at this time. We are still in contact on a daily basis with the employer and our Council of Unions etc. There are many conference calls happening and as you can imagine things change daily.
If you haven’t already may I suggest you watch the daily press conferences from the Government, I watch them on CTV Atlantic breaking news you can also view them from the Government page. This is where you will get factual information on new cases, closures of businesses, protocol on precautions etc.
Our Bus Garages are now closed till April 1 when inspections will start again to have everything ready when schools resume.
Some of our members who can work from home are doing so and there is a skeleton crew working at different sites.
The employer is taking all precautions necessary and following the guidelines set by the government and Health Canada to keep everyone safe.
As you know schools are accessible this week only to Teachers and grade 12 students so they can access learning materials. This is by appointment only and they are to go in get what they need and leave, no hanging around.
At this time there are no arrangements or plans for anything beyond this 2 week closure.
This is a trying time for everyone, please be safe and listen to and practice the health regulations, washing your hands, social distancing and staying home, only go out if you need essentials.
I imagine over the coming days there will be more to report on as things are changing rapidly. Your Executive and myself are available by phone for any questions or concerns you may have.
Please continue to check this site for any new information.
