[CBVRCE CUPE All] COVID-19 update

On May 8, 2020, Premier Stephen McNeil announced that students, Pre-Primary to 12, will not return to the classroom this year and that formal learning will end on Friday, June 5, 2020. School-based staff will continue to work at home until the end of June. You can read the news release here:
I would like to extend our appreciation to everyone who is working through these difficult times to continue to support our students and each other, including supporting others in our communities in various capacities. We all have an important role to play in keeping our system running, so I want to thank all of you for your efforts during these challenging times.

If you have been getting paid, you will continue to receive pay during the closure period, in accordance with applicable collective agreements or terms and conditions of employment. If you are normally in receipt of a layoff notice and/or Record of Employment when school ends in June, you will receive it at the same time that you normally would.
>
Please take care of yourself and follow all public health advice during this time. If you become sick or start to display symptoms during this period of time, please report this to your immediate supervisor as soon as reasonably possible. As we previously advised, employees will not be asked for medical notes related to COVID-19.
